Walldogs Turn Beaver Dam's History Into Public Art

(Beaver Dam) The paint is dry, the scaffolding is coming down, and the hundreds of artists who transformed Beaver Dam over the past week have begun making their way home. After five years of planning at the local level, the “Decorate the Dam” Walldogs Mural Festival successfully wrapped up yesterday. In less than one week, 15 new murals were painted throughout downtown and beyond. Professional painters and skilled artists from around the world descended on Beaver Dam, this year’s host community for the annual festival, creating larger-than-life images that celebrate the city’s history.

Song Request Leads to a Marriage Proposal on the Barn Show

(Beaver Dam) Local legend Uncle Bill on Friday helped a young couple begin a new life together. Carrie Yerges of Jefferson is a senior at UW Oshkosh who grew up listening to the Barn Show. Her boyfriend, Clint Bergsma of Evansville, had a special request for Uncle Bill.

Historic 'Big Boy' Locomotive Makes a Whistle-Stop in Friesland

(Friesland) The largest operating steam engine in the world made a stop in Friesland on Thursday morning. Big Boy is making the rounds as part of the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad. There were only 25 locomotive's built, and the 132-foot-long, one million-plus pound, recently restored engine is the only one on the tracks.
