Gold Star Father Helps Find Final Photos For Wall Of Faces Vietnam Memorial

(Mayville) A Dodge County man played a vital role in finding photos of Vietnam veterans for a virtual memorial. Roughly two decades ago, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund Inc. began an effort to locate a picture for each of the 58,000 service members whose names are engraved on the Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. The photographs are featured on a website called the Wall of Faces and include a brief profile of each veteran.

New BDACT Director Credits Growing Up In Beaver Dam For Hollywood Success

(Beaver Dam) David Alan Smith recently retired from a successful career in Hollywood, but says he never would have made it without his time at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre.

“I think the professionals I worked with were appreciative of the fact that I knew how to learn my lines and hit my mark and face the camera and be consistent in the things that I was doing, and that all came from my training, so thank you BDACT,” he says.

PBS Sewing Icon Nancy Zieman Remembered For Entrepreneurship, Community Spirit

(Beaver Dam) Nancy's Notions founder Nancy Zieman is being remembered as an inspirational entrepreneur and supporter of arts in the community. Zieman died Tuesday at her home in Beaver Dam, surrounded by family, after a long battle with bone cancer. The 64-year-old was the host of North America’s longest-running sewing show, Sewing with Nancy on Wisconsin Public Television, which has been airing since 1982. In 1979, Zieman founded Nancy's Notions, a mail-order business based in Beaver Dam that became a major outlet for sewers and quilters.

Shaved By The Bell - St. Baldrick's Day At BDHS

(Beaver Dam) Radio personality Craig Warmbold joined 42 Beaver Dam High School students and staff members in shaving their heads as part of the St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser for children’s cancer research. The high school students had set their fundraising goal at $5000, but the final tally was closer to four times that amount. Senior Autumn Slosser raised the most money, bringing in $1970. Teacher and organizer Carry Ketchem had tears in her eyes when she thanked all those who gave of themselves so selflessly.
